Your face needs oil to be healthy, strong and vibrant.

"What? I thought I was trying to get the oil off! Isn't that why I cleanse my face?" Not exactly.

Over-cleansing or using harsh/soap-based cleansers stimulate the sebaceous glands. What are sebaceous glands? They are microscopic exocrine glands in the skin that secrete an oily or waxy matter, called sebum, to lubricate and waterproof the skin and hair. They prompt more oil production when the skin needs it (or when it has been stripped by your cleanser).

Introducing oil to the skin can have the opposite effect and actually slow oil production, making your skin appear less shiny and oily. And contrary to popular belief, face oils can improve breakout-prone skin. Serums are a great way to moisturize and cleanse the skin with the like begets like principle. The skin needs oil to keep a protective biome balance and the skin barrier intact.

Liferoot’s Beauty Elixirs can be used for facial oil cleansing, or a nutrient-packed moisturizer for the face and body.

They are concentrated and nutritious, so only a small amount of product is needed. These oil moisturizers are best utilized as a moisturizer after a toner application or cold water exposure.

For Oil Cleansing Method: Open pores by applying a warm wet cloth to face. Rub on face (not much is required) in small clockwise circles. Wipe your face with a warm wet cloth to get off excess oil.

To use as Moisturizer: Apply after cleansing face (Our cleansing grains, Happy Wash, or Ananda Cleanser are great for this) and applying a toner to ready the face for an oil serum. You can also ready the face for a serum by splashing with cold water.
